    +More Info

My Mitchell Lurie reeds give me the support I need to produce powerful statements with my clarinet.  Mitchell Lurie gives me the control and warm sound I desire. It is my favorite reed.

The Reserve Classic cut is great!  It gives me the power I'm looking for without making me bite so hard that I loose my endurance.

A D'Addario Woodwinds player since 1980.

Doreen Ketchens is a classically trained clarinetist who stumbled upon jazz after falling in love with her now husband of 28 years, Lawrence Ketchens. She began performing on the streets of New Orleans in 1987 and has traveled the world performing and teaching through master classes and workshops. Doreen and her husband Lawrence educate students of all ages, from pre-school to the elderly. Doreen has performed for four US Presidents and a host of dignitaries and royalty. She started playing clarinet in elementary school and proceeded through high school where she began her studies with Stanley Weinstein. She attended Delgado Community College, Loyola University, Southern University In New Orleans, and through numerous scholarships - including one from the New York Philharmonic - attended The University of Hartford. She has an innovative and distinct playing style that has been described as "amazing" and "brilliant."
