It didn't take long to realize how good D'Addario reeds are. Back in 2011, when I first tried Reserve Classic, I immediately noticed their fantastic sound qualities combined with great consistency. Since then D'Addario reeds became an important part of my professional life.

A D'Addario Woodwinds player since 2010.

Vienna-based saxophonist Michał Knot was born in Poland in 1987. As a member of FIVE SAX, Duo Aliada and the Vienna Saxophonic Orchestra, he has established himself as one of the most versatile saxophonists of his generation. Despite his young age, Michał Knot has performed throughout Europe as well as in the United States, Taiwan and Chile, including in such world-renowned concert halls as Berlin Konzerthaus, Walt Disney Concert Hall Los Angeles, Wiener Konzerthaus, National Concert Hall Taipei, Musikverein Wien, Teatro Del Lago Chile and Gasteig Munich to name a few. Michał is a dynamic performer of many musical styles. With the cross-over band FIVE SAX, he tours the world playing classical, film, folk, jazz and pop music while showcasing his natural talent for acting. With Duo Aliada he is exploring the wide possibilities available to the unique combination of saxophone and accordion, from baroque music to the newest works dedicated to the duo. Michał is also a member of the Vienna Saxophonic Orchestra and in the past has enjoyed playing with symphony orchestras such as the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg. Having premiered over 20 solo and chamber works by emerging composers such as Alexander Kaiser and Maciej Jabłoński, Michał demonstrates a strong interest in contemporary music. As a member of Duo Aliada, Michał won a Grand Prix at the 12th Fidelio Wettbewerb. In 2013 he was awarded the “Młoda Polska” scholarship, given to the most successful young Polish artists by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski. He was named „2014 Artist of the Year” by HFP Steuerberater Wien. In 2010 and 2011 he received artistic scholarships from the Italian Goverment. Michał has released two albums so far: „At the movies” released by the Austrian label Paladino and „New colours of the past” with German ARS Produktion. Additionally, he appears on albums released by Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) and Südwestrundfunk (SWR). Michał holds degrees from Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität (MA), Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma (MA) and Akademia Muzyczna Kraków (BA). His saxophone studies have taken place under the guidance of internationally renowned saxophonists Lars Mlekusch, Enzo Filippetti and Andrzej Rzymkowski. He received further inspirations during masterclasses with Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Vincent David, David Villa, David Brutti, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, Mario Marzi, Hiroshi Hara, Chien-Kwan Lin, Daniel Gauthier, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé and Stefano di Battista. Michał Knot is a D’Addario and Selmer artist. www.michalknot.com www.fivesax.com www.duoaliada.com
